come and have a look at what you could have won

Here's a blast from the past. It's Jim Bowen on Bullseye and this particular episode features darts legend Jocky Wilson throwing for charity. This brings me back to Saturday evenings in the early 1980's. This was the closest it came to reality tv back in those days.

In this clip Jocky fails to throw more than 301 in nine darts. In the interview with Jim afterwards, Jocky is quizzed on a recent match with the 'Crafty Cockney' Eric Bristow. Jocky was 5 sets up going into the break. After the break Jocky started to fall apart and Jim asks what happened. I broke my arse laughing as Jocky immediately goes on the defensive and tells Jim that he wasn't drinking during the break in sets. Yeah sure Jocky, pull the other one. In 1997 Jocky was declared bankrupt and eventaully ended up living in a council house on the estate he grew up in.

The best bit of trivia relating to Jocky (and the one that is constantly trotted out) is the time when the Top of the Pops production crew put a picture of him behind Dexys Midnight Runners as they performed their hit 'Jackie Wilson Said'. Classic stuff.

Memory lane becomes an increasingly attractive place as i grow older.
