peripheral ireland

Hail all, it is I, Matt, fresh-faced and windswept after three weeks on the Beara Peninsula, the outcrop of Ireland shared by Cork and Kerry. To say it was great would be an understatement. It was fantastic. Three weeks of tooling around, going to the beach, drinking pints in the afternoon, drinking pints in the evening, smoking in pubs whilst having a late drink, meeting film stars and musicians and poets.

After my last piss take post I was very surprised when my wife and sister-in-law bumped into Colin Farrell down there. He was doing a bit of tooling around himself before filming started on the latest Neil Jordan film. He’s looking a bit skinny these days but he’s still a big hit with the chicks. A few days later we bumped into Neil Jordan whilst he was having a day out at the beach with his family. There was also a poetry reading as part of a festival to honour the late Dave Caffrey where Theo Dorgan did his bit. To top it all we came in at fourth place in the local pub quiz. None other than Barry Devlin, ex-Horslips, led the winning team. The brainy fucker.

It’s nice to be back in Dublin and to get away from the hubbub. I’ve a lot of record shopping to do in the next few days so I’ll no doubt have lots to write about then.

Curious, curious...Theo Dorgan was in Glenties, talking about Brian Friel, while you were listening to him in Allihies. Dorgan's a good lad so he is, but I never knew he had powers of bilocation. Impressive.

Nah, he's no Padre Pio, unless you count the beard. He was up in Glenties a couple of days before he was down in Allihies. He apparently only goes to places that end in 'ies'.It's a hard life for poets these days, what with the travelling and all that.

Hey Matt, bit off the point here but Analogue is re-launching today/tomorrow. Keep an eye out...

Cheers,
Bren

Good blogs. This is something that I've been looking at for a while. Lots of information about vinyl and I'm kinda impress with this. Also, it's also good to know about Ireland as well. Thanks, Matt.

Overall, we love your site here. By the way, we've started a new private mp3 blog.

Please email me at goldvinyl@gmail.com for the URL and an invitation code.

We would love to hear your comment about our blog.

good one about Barry Devlin - very smart chap I'd say - on the other hand I can't imagine Mr. Farrell was anywhere to be seen come quiz time!
