the pursuit of crappiness

After a number of days I have finally sourced a 7" copy of Chaz Jankel's 'Glad to know you'. My interest was sparked in this record after I had heard his new reworking of it. His remix of the tune has just been released on TIRK Records as 'Too Woo Lady Kong' and it features the original version of '3,000,000 Synths' on the flip side. You can check out 3,000,000 Synths on Chaz's MySpace

For those of you who weren't around in 1981 for the release of 'Glad to Know You' let me give you a bit of background to Mr Jankel. He was a member of Ian Dury & The Blockheads and wrote a number of songs for the band including the brilliant 'Hit me with your rhythm stick'. The late Ian Dury returned the favour by co-writing this classic tune.

The 7" will hopefully be winging its way from France in the next day or two. It's status is only pending and I'm not sure if I'm actually going to get it. The cruel irony of most of my online 7" purchases is that I inevitably find a copy of the same tune a few days later in Oxfam for 50c. Ah well.
